Middletown, NY – Peter Rickard, brother of Paul and former SUNY Orange assistant basketball coach passed away on Sunday September 9th at the age of 60. Peter was a long time resident of Otisville, NY. He was a two sport athlete at Minisink Valley High School captaining the boys’ basketball and football teams. He graduated from Marist college in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration.
Peter was active within the Orange County community. Peter was an assistant coach for the Colts from 1985-1987. Peter coached all three of his daughters at St. John’s elementary school in Goshen, NY. Peter’s biggest impact on the court came in 2007 when he took over the Chester Academy girls’ basketball program. He spent 10 years at Chester until his diagnosis of cancer in 2016. At Chester he was able to make impacts on and off the court. He eventually led Chester to two divisional titles.
Peter worked for 27 years at the Madison-Davis Group, where he was Vice President and Minority Partner. In 2016, Peter left Madison-Davis to start Stewart-Rickard Associates with his wife, Sally. Stewart-Rickard Associates, an executive search firm, quickly became a leader in the Life Sciences and Biotech industries.
