Welcome to the Paul Rickard Memorial Scholarship Website

In 2006, the Paul Rickard Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Paul Rickard. Paul dedicated 36 years of his life to SUNY Orange acting as head men’s basketball coach, head men’s golf coach and most importantly as a professor in the Mathematics and Computer Science department. Paul took pride in being a part of the SUNY Orange  community as he was a firm believer in the mission of the college.  In his more than three decades of service at the college, he valued all of the relationships he formed specifically within the Mathematics and Athletics departments. He always enjoyed working with his colleagues to inspire students to work harder and think bigger. In his mind, there was no better place to be than SUNY Orange.

The Paul Rickard Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to two students each academic year. The first scholarship will be awarded to a student who would like to continue his academic and athletic career as a basketball player at SUNY Orange. This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the head men’s basketball coach. The second scholarship will be awarded to a student that would like to continue their studies at SUNY Orange in the field of Mathematics, Engineering or Physics. This scholarship will be awarded by a committee based on a three phase application process(Application, Essay & Resume).

It is our hope that through this scholarship, Paul’s family and friends can help keep his legacy alive and continue to help SUNY Orange live out their mission and better serve the Orange County community.
